Thanks Kirk. The loon close-up wins the day. The shot was almost accidental; the loon unexpectedly surfaced beside the boat, much to my surprise and his and I got this one shot at close range. Thank the 1D-X for the rapid focus and the 200-400mm zoom! Don

Great set here Don. Love seeing the other type of waxwing that doesn't come to the west side of the country. The loons are gorgeous, when I see them during migration I can't even get close with 1200mm. I need to travel to BC back to my hometown of Kamloops to get them this close in their breeding grounds.

Seeing these pictures one can be sure that Algonquin park is truly a paradise for wild life watching and photography. While I visited the park few months before I couldn’t get to to see much wild animals but the stay inside the park in Algonquin lakeside inn was an whole new experience. Wish to visit the park again this year trying to catch some animals in action.
