Hi Zane,

For as big as the state of Texas is, it's amazing how few good landscape shots are ever posted from there... So it's nice to see yours posted here. You had some cool clouds that really set this scene off nicely. Good job on what must be a midday shot.

Ah, again, my neck of the woods. Our Astronomy club has a dark site that is not far from this area. I used to 4 wheel-drive all over this area when I was working my college years with Shell.

Yes it was taken near midday....the light was quite harsh. I left it that way in post. It's the way it looked with sunglasses on...lol
West Texas is amazing to me. Wide open spaces for sure.

Texas is a huge place...much of it is quite beautiful. Much of it is pretty. We have mountains, but not like Colorado, we have coastlines, but not like Oregon, and we have forests, but not like Vermont.

I was thinking about this post as I flew over this area, on my way back from Austin. This is a shot in 720nm IR light (Near IR, more accurately), which covers a view nearly 150 miles northward. Visible is Guadalupe Peak, Salt Flats, White Sands National Monument, The Sacramento Mountains and Sierra Blanca.

I just thought this might be appropriate for this thread
