Man the Zeiss bokeh is incredible, I hadn't really considered them before and no idea why (considering I have a Zeiss microscope too lol).

These lenses are in a price range of their own though, no impulse buying here I suspect I recently picked up a Rokinon 85mm 1.4 for use on my FM2n. Its surprised me. Would love to be able to do an A/B and see what a few thousand can get me instead!

Ronny, for flowers I see you have an array of different lenses on your Flickr. Which one do you normally to-go and why?

Favorite lens is probably 100MP to flowers .. best bokeh and great details and good sharpness
the focal length around 100 and up to 180mm works best I think
Wind angle can be cool pictures but usually gets a little messy bokeh
My Nikkor 180 ai-s and 135 f2 ai-s I use with tube for better focusing distance
But as I said 100MP is probably my best lens for the flowers.

Great idea for the thread I only have the 100MP in my bag, it's such a tactile pleasure to use and definitely gives a different color and contrast than my other glass - the fall leaves for instance have very little processing, no boost to the reds just a B&W CPL on there.

I spent 3.5 weeks in Europe this year and it was one of the few lenses I was willing to haul around, I agonized about the choices before leaving but no regets with an 18-35, 50, and the 100mp

Oh man a 135/2 ZF2 just came up on the local craigslist . . .

Where I live a like new copy came available for a reasonable price (and still is), but I decided not to buy it (after some thoughts). The reason is that I now own the ZF 100/2 that I don't want to miss because I use it quite often for macro-shots. IMO 100/2 and 135/2 is too close to have them both and therefore I can't justify the cost for the 135/2 at this moment. Besides that the 100/2 is already such an excellent lens that I will probably hardly/not see a noticeable improvement with the 135/2.

As I see it the 135/2 is a tiny bit sharper and lacks LoCA, while the 100/2 has some LoCA (never noticed it in any of my pictures however). The 100/2 on the other hand can go to 1:2 while the 135/2 only to 1:4.

I found that the MP 2/100 has very little focus travel at long focus distance, making it relatively difficult to get the focus spot on because it seemed that even the slightest thought of moving the focus ring could change the focus too much. At maximum aperture the DOF is still thin enough for this to matter. At closer distances the focus ring has plenty of travel to enable precise focus.

On the other hand, the 2/135 is relatively to focus at the long distances.

Both lenses are great but I prefer the 2/135 at maximum aperture in bright light for high contrast subjects because the MP 2/100 has too much CA in that situation.

I have sample photos to show because at the time I also had a faulty viewfinder on my camera and none of my shots were as good as I wanted them to be where I wanted them to be. I must get out and take more.
