Christmas eve was a cloudy windy old day but cleared up at sunset so I headed out to a dark sky location I've been wanting to shoot for ages. Way out of the way up some sketchy roads but luckily it remained clear.
This used to be an old Totara forest and the remains of some of these ancient trees have been left behind. The light on the right is distant lightning just offshore of Banks peninsula to the south.
