I photographed this gorgeous snowy with Daniel Cadieux. Ms. owl was very cooperative and friendly. The pure white plumage provides one of the best natural camouflages. It is so perfect that it makes it difficult for human eye to actually see the snowy in the finder even at close range. I totally lost the bird in more than several occasions.

This frame shows the talons. 1DX 500 II f/5.6 1/2500sec ISO 1250 handheld.

Great shot with excellent detail and an intense look. Too bad you clipped the wings. But a very powerful shot in spite of that! Don

Thanks, I didn't clip the wings but I intentionally cropped tight to focus on the talons. The wing span of the owl is huge and if you keep the wings tip-to-tip at this position talons will become too small in the frame, it doesn't work for this kind of shot unless the wing position was totally different.

I like the close crop. It does focus the attention on the eyes and talons. Great image.

This is a beautiful image Arash captured at a marvelous moment. Have you moved the black point down a bit to boost the contrast? The markings on then ones I’ve seen over a number of years seem a bit browner than yours. I don’t mind some artistic editing, it makes for a more striking image.
