An early morning shot taken a few weeks ago. Temperature was ~ minus 20F and I could not tell if my fingers had contacted the shutter button until the camera clicked!

I realized that this barn on Mormon Row is overly shot but there was some magical light as the sun was just starting to rise. I had posted a version of this shot on the Nature forum but I prefer this softer processing a bit more. Comments, suggestions always welcome.

Well I don't mind seeing this barn again if it is as nicely photographed as in this shot.

off topic: how many weeks ago was this shot? We are thinking about doing the States again next year and want to visit Yellowstone and the Tetons before going on to Utah. I can only get leave as from the last week of September (25th) and am wondering what the chances of snow will be at that time of the year in Wyoming.

At the end of September there shouldn't be any snow in the valley. There might be some up in the peaks but even when it snows down to the valley floor it usually melts in a day. Snow usually starts sticking in the valley in November. You might get some gorgeous fall colors at around that time.

Helenica, the week is a terrific time to visit Yellowstone and the Tetons. This year in Yellowstone, same week, we had snow, rain, clouds, sun, and bunches and bunches of wildlife! Cannot predict the weather that time of the year, but, snow is a definite possibility.

This is great, and i never tire of pictures of this barn. I was there once in early spring when the park roads were still closed and had to wade through 12-14 inches of old snow to get to this location from the parking area on Antelope road.

Genefixer, great job. Always weather shots.

About September. Great time to visit my world. I love the trip from JH out the back door to Bear Lake ID/UT and then over the hump to Logan UT. Did this in 2012 October. The most beatiful leaves. Then went on to Red Rock and Four corners.

Beautiful shot. I would love to shoot the barn in winter in snow. I wouldn't care how many times others have photographed it.

Great shot and I don't think we over do the beautiful things in life. It is those things we make ugly that maybe we should refrain from.

Most of the barn shots are worth skipping, but this one is nice and the subdued background details dose out visual interest nicely.
