The first is in totally different league though!
That small portion of an image make a huge difference...

The light on both is very beautiful Jim.
I like the unique way you composed the second but wish I could see a little more of that reflection.
I am also ready for the snow season!

Jim, was that the first snow of the season on Convict? I shot there that morning as well, I'm now wondering if we actually met!

I like the first one the best. Here I think dodging the trees along the shore really improves this.

The second one is beautiful but would like a little less foreground.

Convict Lake with a fresh dusting of snow... yum! I prefer the first image, you have too much going on in the frame on the second one, IMO. On the other hand the first one lacks a foreground, and it would have been nice to capture some reflections. There are some really nice round rocks along the shore from this viewpoint, particularly when dusted with snow they would have made for a good foreground. An ND and 5-10s exposure to get some nice reflections of the mountain in the water (despite what appears to have been a somewhat breezy day) would have nicely rounded the comp. I like the PP and the restrained colors on both.

Really nice set! They are both very nice but the simplicity of the first combined with the very unique light above the peak really puts that one over the top (no pun intended ) for me. Love it.
