I figured I better get these out before winter hits! Though I guess these are nice bridge shots between the Fall and Winter seasons as in the Eastern Sierra we got an early Christmas gift of snow during the fall season. I posted one shot from here earlier, but here are 2 more. One a closer shot of the sunrise colors erupting at Convict Lake, and then a wide shot of the scene shot a few minutes later as the color was drifting.

Beautiful. For me #1 is killer. I just love that subtle glow on the mountain peak. Almost looks like it's an active volcano.

I really hope I can hit Yosemite this year for the snow.

Thanks! I am glad you like it. It was definitely a very cool display of color. As for Yosemite this winter, I am so ready to be there with some fresh snow!

Thanks Dan, it was a pretty special morning as the light broke through and lit up just above the peak like that. Nothing I had ever seen before in that way.

Lovely series Jim. No. 1 is my favorite. The light on the top of the peak is almost like an halo around an Angel's head.

First one for me Jim. It has fantastic mood. The light above mountain looks almost like volcano that is just about to erupt and it creates great contrast with cold landscape.

#1 is a really sweet shot! Like others have said, it looks like the glow of an active volcano.

Capturing a volcano-ish image without the smell, particulate matter, and threat of death is nice

I'll be different... I prefer #2. I love the light and peak in the first, but feel like it is missing something. I find 2 more engaging, although I'd really love it if the foreground framed the reflection a little more instead of cutting it off.

Yeah!!! Thanks Kyle! I am glad to hear that someone likes #2, I was beginning to wonder about that one. Well I guess I will have to add you to my Christmas card list.

#2 stands out the most to me, Jim. Mainly because of the snow and the bushes in the foreground. Those two elements immediately pull me into the rest of the image. Spectacular color in the clouds, too.

That is wonderful light there Jim! I like the composition of the first one, but in the second one the foreground and background are competing with each other for my attention.
