Clouds are a rarity in Zion but this particular day there were plenty of them late in the afternoon and I was hoping for a great sunset. Things change quickly.
The clouds started thinning out and completely disappeared as the golden hour approached. At the end I settled for this particular scene with a patch of cactus against the mountains . The soft pastel colors of the earth's shadow lasted only few seconds.

Hey Harsha,

I really like this shot, good choice on a foreground for it. As to clouds in Zion, I have noticed how the clouds tend to disappear the closer it get's to sunset. Not sure what causes that, but it sure does stink!

Nice photo Harsha. Really like the foreground and the nice even colored light throughout.

Yeah when I was at Zion I had staked out a spot where I thought the clouds would give a nice sunset but then it just went away. I don't know if its a seasonal thing or not.

This may not have been what you wanted, but it's awfully good in all ways.
My only nit is tiny- I'd consider a right-side crop because the upward slope of the side of that plateau is distracting.

The prickly-pear cactus makes for a wonderful foreground and the lighting is superb. Lovely work!
