Wonderful shots Kent, I really do like the first While 3 might be difficult it's a lot easier than one
It brings back some good memories, when "Lady Hawk" used to start this thread. I hope she is doing fine. She is missed Indeed Socrate, she is missed as are many others from time gone by. Great to see you back my friend, I would hate to be the one picking just 3 from your HD Super set from top to bottom. I must that I really like seeing that lost one, something different from you and a super shot
There you are TM, I was hoping this thread might lure you away for a moment Your normal top notch work Will, thanks for stopping by, some of us over here miss the likes of you!
What a marvelous and varied contribution David, that might just be on of my favorite MG I have seen on this forum
Stunners Howard, easily some of the best of the species I have ever seen.

Tim

I always look forward to this annual thread. It never disappoints me as I scroll through the fantastic images.

Thought I would contribute a few flora to this thread, since it seems to already have so many extraordinary fauna! Hope everyone has a great 2014 shooting images for next year's version of the "best of. . ."

#1 Ohio spiderwort in the rain

#2 Rose mallow (in the rain)

#3 Sneezeweed (heavy with dew)

Looking back on the year, I started out with some neat firsts and that is why these shots were special for me.

1. The end of 2012 was the first time I got to see and photograph snowy owls. Thanks to Tim K I had a great time. I had to get back for another round and convinced my wife to come along, even though we had a three month old puppy. Both came along though the puppy,a yorkie she named Bella, got to spend time in the car after I made a comment about her size relative that of the raptors. This shot is from that trip, the light was very flat in the evening with over cast skies despite the weatherman's promise of some relief. The background is an ocean bay and hills beyond.
2. Another first was a trip to BdA. Though we were late and missed most of the huge flocks of birds the trip was memorable for the time spent with an old college friend, Craig P from LV, getting to meet DesertDrake (Al), three meals of NM style chile rellenos and for the spectacle of BdA itself. This sandhill was recovering from a little "ice tango" slip he made.
3. Another shot from BdA of a blue goose landing.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!
-Doug

Man, I step away from FM for a couple of weeks, and come back to a mountainous thread of fantastic images. Thanks to Tim not only for starting this fantastic thread, but also for his support and friendship, especially to those of us new to the art and the craft of wildlife photography (yours truly).

There was no way I could choose three individual animals, so I went for some Pantanal pairs.

#1) Buff-necked Ibis (Hmm, maybe it's ibises).
#2) Hyacinth Macaws.
#3) Plumbeous Ibis (whatever), engaged in what I believe is a juvenile still looking for nurture, and (anthropomorphically) expressing their gratitude.

Dave Longfellow............Those are exquisite floral captures

What a fantastic concentration of exceptional images showing up here this year.............Looks like a lot of improvement for many on their PP work and it is great to see it all come together

The 'feathers' in this thread are a joy and such abundant variety!
Great 'cats' from those worldly travelers too

Keep the images coming and hopefully from a few more that have not been too frequent to post or visit this year can share a few?

Well, first let me say there has been too many wonderful images to congratulate all the members here on just how great they are...it's been fantastic looking at and learning from all the people here. I've had quite a few people help me out in getting better with my photography and my post production, you know who you are, and thank you.
2013 has been a very transitional, joyous, sad and a year for exploration for me.
It's been the first year I've been able to really get back into photography how I'd like to. Over the past twelve years I've had to first fight a very bad seizure disorder that hits me in my sleep thats caused a coma, and near death a couple times. It's finally been under control since 2011 and going on 3 years without one. I then had to get a hip replaced last year that one doctor refused to do at first because of the seizures.
Next year I plan on getting back in my kayak, explore more of B.C. hopefully get back to Jasper and perhaps explore Bella Coola

Over the top work Dave, these are some of the best florals that have ever graced this forum, wow!!!
Excellent work Doug! I'm loving that owl, super shot my friend. The other two aren't so shabby either Excellent post and I do hope to hook up with you soon
There you are Greg, you are one of the ones I was hoping this annual celebration would pull out of the woodwork An absolutely wonderful set my friend. Your work has really come far this year, this is an excellent demonstration of that. I can't believe the heron shot!!!!
It's great to hear a health success story Scott. You may not look at it as such but it really is. Having had serious health issue I look back and realize how lucky I am now. You graced us with 3 marvelous shots, excellent work For me the last is special, it shows some of the iconic scenery of our special part of the world. Well done!
There you are Conrad! Seriously I was wondering where you were and WHAT you would be putting up. To my amazement you put up a shot that I would die to get, the Phoebe. I just love those guys and to get a full spread shot like that is toooooo gooood. Of course the other two rock also and one is from my backyard! I hope to shoot with you this coming year CT
Very nice set workerdrone, the colors in the last are the kind that we all strive to find, you did a marvelous job on them. Post your work more often

Tim

All amazing photos! Would be a FANTASTIC museum exhibition. Didn't want to be accused of being a "Lurker", so even though hesitant I'm adding three. Best in Health and Happiness to all FMer's. Your encouragement and advice has been constant throughout the year. Thanks.
