Thanks Brian. Considering this is shot at 1200mm and cropped close to a 100% crop will tell you that I don't get close either

Geoff, great job pulling in the shy birds. My 500 perpetually has the 1.4x glued to it, guess I should try the 2x once in a while. I've tried for a kingfisher many times, someday perhaps I can get a shot like you did

The herd of white-fronted geese gets to me the most, however

Their legs are so widely spread apart that I'm reminded of a young child with full diapers, bad balance and a burning butt
