Remarkable lynx images, Geoff.
In 19 summers spent in Alaska and Yukon- one might expect to see a wild lynx.
I certainly expected to since my jobs so often included major time spent bouncing down the highways.
But I never did.
Nor did I see wolverine or members of the weasel family (otters excepted).
You had amazing luck- and you nailed the shots.

I think that I really didn't even realize how lucky I had been that day until much later. I now realize that it probably was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I wish I had maybe stayed longer to see if he came back down out of the brush. He eventually wandered deeper into the brush so that is when we left him but probably should have stayed and waited it out.

Lovely captures Geoff. I haven't seen many lynx on this forum. Killer head shot at the end. Nice find and you took great advantage of the rare situation. At least for me that would be rare.

Thanks Herb for stopping in and leaving a comment. I think seeing these in the wild, in N. America is very rare unless you spend a lot of time in the bush or driving remote highways. I think in Europe you can sometimes go to places and see them more predictably but then those sure won't be L. canadensis

Oh man what an opportunity and you have some great shots of a very elusive animal. An extra set of eagle eyes really paid off here. It makes you wonder how many scenes we pass by oblivious to what is close at hand.

Thanks a lot Morris. I guess I just got caught up in posting eagles. And I also never posted much before this summer. I think I have posted the lynx before but over in the Canon seasonal shots thread.

Stunning images! That's being in the right place at the right time and being prepared with your camera in the ready position.

That reminds me of the time my wife and I were driving in Alaska. A Wolverine with his white skirt lopes up to the side of the road and stops in plain view. He then turned around and loped back the way from which he came. Our jaws dropped as my wife and I looked at each other. You were prepared. I wasn't.
