Several folks out here in Saint George say that our 6" of snow is a rare event. I went out to the nearby red rocks of Snow Canyon and found it like a fairyland. Snow Canyon is named after a fellow named Snow not because it gets lots of snow. It's a state park and it has desert plants, wildlife, ancient red rock sand dunes, lava, white Navajo Sandstone and a present day sand dune field.

What makes this even more cool is that, if my memory serves me correct, Saint George is where the palm trees start to show up on your drive to the coast.

Yes, and it so happens I took this shot during the storm of a palm tree. With low temps. around 10 tonight the palm trees will suffer as will some of the many large and beautiful cacti found around town.
