Hmm - SR4 is quite high for SAR

If this happens and takes off I wonder if this will be a high priced sensor due to R&D costs (hence intro to MF backs), but then trickle down to 35mm and APSc

Cool! Thanks for the link.
Is this electronic first shutter on a per pixel basis?

I imagine that it has to be a shutterless technology. I would guess that it shuts off pixel accumulation before saturation to prevent blown highlights, but I can see issues with that, mainly highlight compression (ie loss of contrast/detail as all highlights "merge" together).

It will be interesting to see what comes of it, if anything.

Very interesting sensor tech. Individual pixels has a sensor...that would mean a lot for high dynamic shots. And even better, if we can customise the exposure on those individual sensors. Hopefully Nikon would have something similar in the future as Hassy is beyond my budget.

That would still be saturation, you will just move the "saturation" point to a lower value. It would have to be smarter than that.

This is something I've thought about before...
The pixels that reach saturation first will receive a higher value than those that follow based on how fast they are saturated, these "super saturated" pixels could be combined with the partially saturated pixels to make a hybrid HDR file.
