Hi all

Here's a few pics I took on Sunday of Daria, a new girl I've been shooting and hopefully will be doing some work for me in the new year

I like all the images of her. She looks dark and intriguing. Nice to see a model without tattoos or piercings for a change!

Nice images. I wonder if #1 might be better in color to allow greater separation between model and BG.

It's not too late to number these for better comment reference.

#1. I think you've lost all detail in the blacks of the dress. Composition is cutting off her hands. a portrait comp comes to mind. This pic gives me a very dark ominous feeling, like that of a horror movie set.

#2 I like the composition in this one - hand placements etc. Background separation is an issue for me - dress blends to background, some hair too.

#3 Better exposure in this one. The eyes have 'come alive' (compare to #2). I don't care for the elbow being chopped off.

#4 Good background separation in this one. I like the expression and pose. There is a small shadow across her left eye from the high main light that could be touched up.

Nice images. Blacks might be a bit too dark in my opinion, and you might want to work on sharpening for web.

# 2 might be a bit stronger with the bottom cropped a bit.

Not trying to be critical, trying to offer criticism for improvement. If it is helpful!

Hi all

Thanks very much for all of your feedback, much appreciated!

I always get pulled up on the dark blacks, my fault, I should mention it when posting. It's intentional, I love dark moody pics and have been a massive fan of David Bailey and his contrasty black and whites. I often lose detail in the blacks but I'm not fussed, you don't need to see it all to know what it is

I shot all day with Daria, mainly with just one reflector and it was great to just work with the basics, on the minus side I ended up with far more pics than normal (partly due to loving shooting someone with Daria's looks)

Haha, she is as much a fan of the dark style as me so I'll probably do mainly moody stuff with her.
