I shot this image a couple of weeks ago during our visit to California. I chose a white balance that kept the surf white, which is what I remembered. If I let the water turn warmer, then the reds in the bridge go crazy. To my recollection, the red in the bridge never reflected off the surf, but just in the sheen as the tide pulls back. It is an iconic image and I saw stores selling magnets with variations of this image. The reflection of the lights and the bridge on the sheen caught my attention in the magnets, and made me go there during the chilly evening. On a side note, Baker Beach allows public nudity, so I had to try my best to avoid keeping some nudists out of my frame. I can't believe they can walk around naked when I was feeling cold wearing a jacket!

Great capture of color/light/reflections.
Certainly a bit different look of an icon.
Yea, those nudist can be distraction...\

Great colors on the sunset and the bridge. My only nit pick is on the right hand side, a bit of the vertical pillar is half cropped out so I would suggest maybe just crop it out entirely or if you have expand the crop to include more of it in.

At least the nuders didn't bother you, I got yelled at once for supposedly trying to "paparazzi" them. I don't think my camera can shoot in 2 different directions at once

Really nice stuff here. One of the better Golden Gate bridge shots I've seen in a while.

Maybe being really picky, but dropping that corner of sand might be interesting.

Hey Maji,

How cool! You got some very nice color here, and it makes for a great scene. To me, if there was anything with the color it looks like a bit of a magenta cast. Still a very enjoyable image.

Oh forgot to mention... the last pier got cutoff because I had to re-frame the shot so that a naked man did not show up in my shot. It appeared that he was trying his best to be in the frame

Hummm.. very nice sunset here, Maji. It is like flowers in the sky. I wish I could see more reflections in the water though.

Kee, reflections can only be seen in calm water and not in the surf. The subject of the photos from this location is the reflection on the sheen of water left on the beach by the receding tide. It is really ephemeral and partial. That is the beauty and challenge of photographing in this location.

Mike, you are so true. Wish the ones I wanted to see naked were naked instead of in swimsuits.

A really fine image, Maji.
The color of the bridge is on the edge- but that's the kind of subjective decision best left to the photographer

About the partial reflection: why not crop out only that part and see what you think?
To my eyes it looks better without that bit of reflection.

Nice job!

I am on a calibrated monitor and it seems maybe a tad overall bright. I would say all of photography is subjective not just white balance.

On a second look, the bridge is a bit "bright"
Might try backing off on saturation just a bit to tame it.
Like Mark said, it's not all white balance

Still a very nice scene
