p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Recent trip to the Smokies

I went on a recent outing in the Smoky Mountain National Park as part of a workshop. The intent was fall colors, but not many of the trees had turned yet, so we made the most of the trip by shooting some other things.

Sunrise was a bit of a bust, as it was completely overcast and we never saw the sun. This was the best of it:

From there, we went further into the park, and stopped at a few water cascades and streams. I always enjoy this type of shot:

Longer shutter speed on this one to catch the swirl in the lower left:

And one just above the river from the previous shot:

And finally sunset from Clingman's Dome. Never saw the sun here either, just like sunruse. But the clouds broke a few times, and we caught some rays shining down to the valley below. The first included the river, and other brought out some golds and oranges in the trees:

It was a nice trip, would love to be back in that area when the colors are at their best. Thanks for looking,

You got some great views here. My favorite is #3, though while I like the milky look in the water from a slow shutter speed when the water turns into milk with no details, then for me the shutter speed was too slow. Depending on how fast the water is moving, I prefer 1/5th to 1/10th of a sec. But that's me.
