Unfortunately #6 and #9 here get hit really hard if you don't have a wide gamut monitor. On sRGB the main subject leaf looks almost like a single tone semi-dull red while on wide gamut it has a more brilliant backlit glow and is full of rich detail and many different subtle shades of intense backlit bright reds and doesn't have that single toned clipped look. If I processed it for sRGB I could probably make it come out better than this although there would be no way to truly replicate what it looked like in real life or looks like on a wide gamut monitor. For #9 the leaves also don't show nearly as many different intense backlit red shades and much of the magic backlit glow is missing when viewed in sRGB. I'd have to go in and do some tricky recoloring to try to bring back the feeling for sRGB and even then it simply can't be done full justice.

So, if you have a wide gamut monitor, I'd definitely suggest clicking on the links for at least #6 and #9.

It must be great to have those reds there! My favorite here is #7, nice work with the limited DOF on it.

Wow, nice job and I can especially tell a difference with my HP LP2475W wide gamut using Firefox on #6.

Here in Maryland, the foliage doesn't look as vibrant as before. Maybe the leaves are changing one or two weeks later this fall?

I love backlit fall colors. I missed this years opportunity. Just couldn't go out. Thanks for sharing!

It was a bit subpar in NJ this year, my backyard used to be beyond amazing nearly every year and now it's been three rather subpar years, still nice looking the last two but nothing like say normal as in, but instead they turned brown spotted and shriveled as much as turned, I mean still nice but nothing like normal:

(far worse the hurricane last year toppled the tree that sent out that amazing branch there from the right that is seen on the second one ), as was last year and the year before that was hideous. (year before THAT though was about the best I ever recall here and last year was about the best northeastern VT has been since before I was born from what I've been told). We've had weird wet Augusts and bone dry falls and odd weather the last few years in our region and Maryland is probably close enough to be a similar story; our leaves in northern NJ started turning extra early this though, not late, although it was sort of uneven many started like a week earlier than normal and then some turned at the normal time which also makes it not quite ideal, a few years back everything turned full force, no early drop, no shriveling or brownin, all turned at once, an unreal paradise everywhere you looked or went).

At least this Harriman/Beat Mtn has been pretty nice even in these down years, it's the one place that manages to get a solid turn almost no matter what, although it varies year to year too.

a couple that go red often from another year:

Yes, it's been interesting this fall. My latest update is that it's now been both one of the earliest falls ever as well as on of the later ones. The early spots turned about as early as I can ever recall and yet the later spots are turning rather on the late side.

The earliest stuff got a bit dried and shriveled not horrible but not particularly great compared to normal, but some of these late trees, a few of the ones on lawns and between houses and not in solid blocks of woods where they all seem to turn earlier, man they are now showing some of the most brilliant color ever. One sugar maple in someone's back yard here man forget yellow, forget orange, forget orange-red, forget red-orange this is like NEK of VT red from a red year red! And no it's not a red maple it's a sugar maple. And some of the ones that went yellow near the lake, holy cow, especially with the evening golden sun on them, those maples were looking crazy today. I have to check but I wonder if that patch are not introduced Norway Maples since they never get any hint of red or orange and they always turn late every single year compared to most of the Sugar Maples.
