2nd series of my BW series of Yosemite Area. The first one is route 120 down to the valley. The 2nd needs no introduction

Stunning...like your first set! Must be amazing to see the valley with fog & mist like in 'Standing Tall'!

Jason...really liking your BW conversions. I too am moving away from Silver FX for a more natural approach. Other than tweaking sliders on a BW adj. layer and TK masks, anything else you are doing to get the look you want?

Pretty much the process you listed out is what I do. I'll also throw in a GRAD mask from LR on the clouds and drop the exposure and highlights and tweak the contrast to give the clouds that punchy look.

I've never seen the view you have in #1- and you got a dandy at a dandy time.

You must have never taken route 120 down the valley

. There's a vista turn out there. Usually packed with lots of people.

Really like number 2.

With number one I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at and feel I'd like it a lot better if I had a bigger version to study.

this is a vista point from highway 120 down to the valley. That road cutout on the left is highway 120. The Merced river is on the right.
