p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · What is your # delivered to clients for a given project?

I just photographed a newborn and 2 families.

I delivered 54 edited for the newborn, and 140 and 110 for each family.

I tend to have a lot of keepers but I do not necessarily love all that I deliver.

I am wondering if I need to deliver less, I think I am not being as critical as I should be and giving more quantity than necessary.

Any thoughts? Thanks

That's too many - it will be hard to get an order when they have an overwhelming # of choices. I promise 20 and usually delivery between 20-30 for all of my sessions - maternity, newborns, kids, families, or seniors. I would rather have 20 stellar images in a gallery than 20 stellar images mixed in with a lot of filler/fluff. Pick the best of the best, and just do those. Not only will it keep your post processing time in check, but it will give your clients a manageable number of images from which to place an order.

This is exactly what I have been thinking. Glad to hear it. Thanks for the great reply.

Agreed with Lisa. The numbers she mentioned are pretty much in line with mine for family shoots. You don't want to overwhelm them with quantity -- you do want to overwhelm them with quality.

I promise 30 and sometimes deliver up to 50. But that's about where I cap it.
