On clear days, the temptation is to pull off the Alcan every few miles because those mountains loom dramatically above you for a thousand miles and more.

A bit jealous as my trip was up beginning of April & everything was covered or frozen.
I may drive back with my friend in a year or two, in the Fall.

I had an advantage: I drove up the Alaska Highway every early May- and down it every late September- for more than 15 years. Starting back when the highway was dirt and gravel all the way from Ft St John to the Alaska border near Beaver Creek, Yukon.
