This is the first photo I have posted here. From a trip back when summer was just disappearing:

Since I have been asking for advice about how to improve my photography, I figured I had better start putting up an image now and then.

Well, since you asked for some advice, and I'm bored at work, I'll try to give my honest thoughts. Everyone has their own style and preferences, so you will probably get some conflicting comments here.

First of all, this seems like an interesting location with potential, but as is, it looks like a quick snapshot taken during a hike. The best way to improve this photograph would be to come back during more interesting light and weather conditions. Blue skies are tough to make look interesting, unless the composition is perfect and it works well with a clean sky.

As for this composition, I personally find it very difficult to come up with an interesting photograph when it gives the appearance of being taken at eye level, which this one does. I might have tried to find an interesting rock formation in the foreground just under the surface of the water, or try to capture a symmetrical clean reflection shot without any sort of distractions. The bits of grass and rocks poking in from the bottom are not prominent enough for me, and act more as distractions then an anchor for the shot. I think if you wanted to use the shoreline as the foreground it would help to include a lot more of it and avoid clipping it against the bottom edge of the frame.

Anyways, that is all from me. I hope that was more helpful then annoying
