After discovering this beautiful scene earlier in the week and doing my best to hurriedly photograph it at sunset with some very difficult and dynamic light, I got up early yesterday morning to try my luck at sunrise
Sunrise was great with some pink clouds clinging to Timpanogos, but as the morning progressed, the light just kept getting better and better, the prelude to what turned out to be one of those spectacular fall days in the mountains.
This shot was taken a full hour after the light first started hitting the mountain.

I prefer working sunrise for that very thing you mention-variable light situations. This image is exceptional, love the textures and color.

Hi Bob, my post is getting lots of comments, but it does not hold a candle to this shot in my opinion. This is the real deal. I like it even better than the sunset shot from here. It inspires me to look a bit more for dramatic sky's outside of the sunrise sunset time.
