My last night at Blackwater Falls State Park brought some welcome rain showers which not only helped the water flow, but also had the added bonus of knocking a few leaves off the trees. This made for some nice shooting conditions the next morning. Here are a few looks at Elakala #1. Hope you enjoy...Kevin

These are very nice! I prefer #2. The perspective seems a little less forced than the others, and I like the swirl.

I agree with Evan. Plus I love whenever a shot has those leaf and foam swirls in it. I might have focused even more closely on that swirling pool.

Another vote for #2! The swirl is enchanting!

I'd bring up the shadows just a tad on these.

Really nice takes on Elakala. While I like the swirls in #2, I'm most partial to #3. I know where you shot that from an its not easy to set that up. The more sparse leaves on the foreground rock are more evocative than the larger number in the others, and the lower angle gives a little more drama to the falls. Great job on all of them!

I miss fall very much. Beautiful series. I agree with Mark - hard to pick a favorite, though if forced to I would pick number 1 I think.

What's your camera/lens combo Kevin? I really like the sharpness on these. I think my web sharpening skills need some work, but it looks like the resolution on your images is probably better as well.

Thanks Aaron. I was using the D800E with the 16-35mm lens. I believe these were at f/16 (I think you can view the exif on Flickr for all the detail). You'll like that lens when you get it.

Yeah pretty syked about the 16-35. You definitely have the resolution bump with the D800e over my D700. Sweet pics!
