I’ve been making regular visits to Nickerson Beach since the middle of March and I’ve started to recognize some of the birds and people there. It has been a wonderful experience and in the case of the oyster catchers I’ve seen them do there mating dance, mate, sit on their nests, hatch there chicks and feed them and watched the chicks playing in the sand. I believe some of them have come to recognize me and this past Sunday they even walked up to be as if to say hi.

-4 the Mrs. stops for a quick food shop

-6 and now Mrs. OC is the first to be very close to me

-7 Mrs. OC gives me a stare

-8 and then glances over to Mr. OC

-9 Handsome Mr. OC gives me a perfect pose allowing us to see through his nose hole

-10 and then my friends were gone

All: D200 + 80-400 VR @ 400mm, ISO 400, 1/320, f8, fill flash (SB910 + Better Beamer)

I suspect there middle aged so they will probably be back. The question is will I be able to recognize the offspring and will they know me?

I recommend mid to late March when there doing there mating dance. Let me know when you go and I'll meet you
