From a recent trip to the Adirondack's no good photo trip these days would be complete without an attempt at a night shot.. Heres my effort from Chapel Pond in the Keen Valley of the Adirondack's.. All comments welcome, regards,
Dean

Dean--I like the composition a lot. Very nice diagonals and a bit of foreground interest that's unusual for a night shot. The only thing my brain trips up on is the color mismatch between the sky and the sky's reflection in the lake. Do I see someone hiking at night on the mountain with a headlamp?

match the color balance of the reflection and sky and you'll have a winner =)

Hey Dean,

Very cool. The stars look great!

Perhaps due to some intrinsic color of the lake,
the color of the reflection and the sky may not be the same tone of color.
Nice capture.

Wonderful image. However, with stars and milky way that bright, I would be expecting stars on the glass smooth lake. Maybe you could use the night image and blend in the nighttime reflection onto the lake which should at the same time take care of the color balance issue. I detect what is likely blending halo above the treeline on the right.

Thanks for all the feedback, the points are well taken . I think this one needs a few tweaks and I will continue to work on it. Regards,
Dean

I agree with the previous comments:
An excellent image overall, Dean.
But even if the colors and brightness WERE that way, the lake and sky don't fit.
And the brightness of the forested area is too much; my brain doesn't expect to see so much detail.
Just an IMO of course .
