I was in Crested Butte a few days too early for "peak" fall colors, but I got some interesting weather to make up for it. I've tried for years to get a good shot of the East River Valley, which winds around the east flank of Mt. Crested Butte. Lighting is always the problem since the close-by mountains make sunrises and sunsets an uneven affair with bad shadows. With just enough sunlight and an incoming storm, I timed it perfectly- ten minutes after this was taken it was dumping snow outside!
