If you're calling yourself a blind dog, I'd say you've been enjoying your stash of bones
Well, us old blind dogs have had a while to build up our stash.
Just a bit of luck involved. Meandering some never before traveled (for me) roads. I just happened to pass that way at that time of day, and it caught my eye. We make our own luck by our efforts and then try to apply our knowledge/skill. But there still is an element of luck involved when it comes to natural light @ cloud movement, subject orientation, etc. and in this particular case ... which way the wind was blowing at that time of day.
Actually, the wind kept shifting directions and intensity, so composition and rotation speed were anything but consistent. I was trying to capture a shutter speed relative to the wind/rotation speed that would not look frozen, yet have a full circle blur with some indication of the individual blades. The "see through" the blades was an added bonus to be able to see the tail. I was trying to capture one with the tail "outside" the blades, but I kinda dig the "see through" on this one.
This was shot from a roadside vantage point with 300mm @ 1/50 sec to get the blur, so I was on the tripod @ f/25. I set up in the back of my truck to get a higher vantage point so the angle wasn't "looking up" as much. Not quite ala AA's platform, but something along those lines.
Hence, even a blind dog finds a bone.
