sharing some photos both taken in September, 2012 in Akureyri on a private tour with 4 friends, and 2013 with 14 from a Manila PH tour group I led with my friend and Iceland guide Iurie Belegurschi.

here is the first 2 photos of glacier and beach ice:

the waves a bit too mild, tried my best to get wave going back.... was more successful with the waves moving forward (not posted here)... no time to wear my waders as I ran to the beach and left my companions on the lagoon upon noticing the sunset would throw light on the other side.

Let there be Ice

the entire shoreline filled with ice as a wind storm passed from the north to the south giving 40/50ms of wind from vik to skaftafell... had to wait for almost two days for us to pass when it went down to 18ms but was still very scary by the and dunes. too much ice, too much clutter so I went for a leading image using the shoreline as the byway

then from Akureyri back in 2012....

two aurora images taken from the mountain ranges going into godafoss after a 2 day snowstorm crippled half the power in the north. I was using a 5dmk2 back then with no moon so I had to push to ISO 1600 and get 15s, i'm was more concerned about getting auroral movement right than with pushing exposure and end up with washed out waves and a green sky. this was a level 2, but there were some window wherein we were given a good short show... while waiting for 5 hours in -5 degs. this one I set my intervalometer to 100 15s shots and got only 2 of them with good form right smack on the left side.

Skyway or Highway

taken by the road, opened the parklights for just a bit of light.... If there was some moon and I could expose at ISO 640 or 800, or this happened with the mk3 then it would have had a better time with noise handling.

stan, that's what I thought too first when I started landscape 3 years ago.. worked hard to be able to have the means to travel regularly. it pays off... dreams come true.

These are all great, and the processing is very good too. I need to go there someday soon

I would say #3 is my favourite shot, especially for the interesting composition and line of light.
