Hey Bob,

It looks like the color still has some ways to go. #1 looks the best here. In both shots, it's really noticable in #2, but the highlights are too gray. Did you have to recover highlights or something? It's not as noticable in #1, but the same look is there to the rocks and trees, an off gray that is not normal. So you might want to go back and look at how you processed these.

I'd agree that it looks like the good time is perhaps just beginning - perhaps a half a week or so early. Thanks for sharing.

#1 looks like a location that is in good form right about now - a nice line of yellow trees with some bare trunk trees around, too.

#2 (the infamous fake waterfall) is a well-known location just up the canyon toward South Lake, and it looks like it is doing well but not quite "there" yet.

At this point, it appears that my visits might include a very quick one in the next week and perhaps a longer one the following week.

By the way, glad to see the evidence that you turned west on 168 from Bishop... ;-)

Bob,

You have the D800E.... why you would even think of shooting anything other than that is a bit of a mystery... especially to use a P&S camera. You have any idea the size difference in the sensor alone? There is no way after you have used the D800E that you could ever be happy with any P&S camera, whether it's a Panasonic, Canon or Nikon....

Glad to hear you are sending it back.

Jim, no mystery here. the 24-600/ constant f2.8 mystified me. and I want a super light one to go around. Just to see how it it is. No harm done!
look for PM
