I read a lot of magazines that are big on photographs- and I never see images that are less than tack sharp- unless it's a "dream-like" interpretation, or trying to create a sense of motion with a still shot, or a close-up of a flower, etc.
Just my opinions, of course .

Ah...just saw this post, Charlie, and it's very much appreciated. I think sharpening is like drinking beer as one gets older...you keep on doing more of it. Perhaps I have a lot of growing-up to do (in both departments).
