Fine set!
Really diggin' the looks on the lapwing. They are quite different than the African and Aussie models.

#2 ROCKS!

Cheers,
Brian

Cool set Greg. I really like #1-3. The lapwings look like a cool bird too.

Greg,
The edits you made helped the colors just right.
Some judicious sharpening might also be of benefit. Especially the eyes.
I read a lot of magazines that are big on photographs- and I never see images that are less than tack sharp- unless it's a "dream-like" interpretation, or trying to create a sense of motion with a still shot, or a close-up of a flower, etc.
Just my opinions, of course .

An excellent series, Greg.

PS By the time I had looked at all of these excellent images, I thought all (or most) would profit by some simple tweaks. So I spent three minutes editing the last image, and really liked the results.
If you'd like me to post the edit, Greg, shoot me a PM.

Thanks (again), Charlie! I tweaked most of these in response to your and Karl's suggestions (which are very much appreciated).

What a stunning set Greg !!! They are all wonderful, but I must say I love the Lapwings

Thank you, Birdie! Lapwings are also unusual because of their carpal spurs, bony extensions on the breast used for display and/or defense. (I have one image in which the spurs are visible, and will post later...it was taken during the same series as these images).

Wait a minute...how does Patanal part 1 come after your great capybara images
Ok, now that that bit of housekeeping is over, I must say you got some real beauties there Greg...and yes they are the same birds as Charles lets them out every morning about 7am. Seriously, these are stellar...the cardinal is a really beauty, the ubiquitous caracara is awesome and the heron too cool...I might have seen one but I'm not sure I could tell one small heron from another. I really love those lapwings...that little plume on the top of its head is so neat.

You're absolutely right, Eric...I was so busy worrying about background noise that I forgot how to count! Thanks for looking (and thanks, especially, for the motivation and the advice).

Thanks so much, Tam! The Agami was a bit of exception (in terms of low-light situations); for the most part, harsh lighting is a bigger challenge than low light. ~Greg

#3 super nice pose. those colors are fantastic, maybe a wee bit boost in the blacks?
#4 nice range of tones and hues on those feathers
#5 compared to the one above it these look slightly magenta perhaps?
#6 would be a great one to bring back down the levels on the BG. Overall I think the bird cold be darker too, it almost looks like you used a

As always, Karl, your insight and advice is greatly appreciated! Based on your advice, I went back and tweaked #1 (NR), #3 (blacks boosted), #5 (WB), and #6 (reduced levels everywhere, a bit more in the background; more NR on background, and bumped contrast a bit in the bird). I found (and still find) this image to be challenging in terms of post-processing; the bird was sitting in the shade but was illuminated by a bit of sunlight that poked through, and I wanted to depict what I saw without making it look too much like flash. Not sure I succeeded, but I have another Agami image or two that I'll post later.

Thanks again. ~Greg

Excellent set of images Greg!! Lovely opener. Caracara is a lovely portrait. #3 is the winner in the set for me. Superb color and a great pose! Nice looking lapwings, and nice finish with an all-beak-no-body heron. Very enjoyable!!

Ah, I'm sorry I missed this one for so long Greg, I was on the road after all

What a wonderful set and a wonderful job on the low light photography. My thoughts

1 nice sharp head/face, beautiful colors, love the expression, really nice. Maybe a bit more nr on the bg.
2 what a striking pose, a regal bird. Well at least in this shot
3 really fun and attractive shot, I love it. I would run some quality nr on the body, I'm seeing ca noise there
4 another winner, a bit tight on the bottom
5 love the double
6 nuff said about that one

Great set Greg
