| p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Will a Storm Jacket Pro protect my Nikon from heavy dew? | |
I want to do some unattended time-lapse photography overnight or in the wee early morning hours of dawn with my D300 or D800. I''m fortunate to live in a place with lots of interesting wildlife that walk through my yard and I wanted to take time-lapse sequences to study their habits.
My chief worry is dew. Not just on the lens - I can buy lens heaters to protect from that - but the whole camera. Dew doesn't fall from the sky like rain - it starts off as water in a gas phase which condenses into a liquid on surfaces. So I'm worried about protecting exposed an even unexposed portions of the camera. Is there any reason why you might not get condensation even on inside surfaces of the camera, thus shortening the life of the electronics or other components?
Storm Jacket claims to protect a camera from dew but since dew starts off as a gas how can it do this? I've been on camping trips where dew has formed inside tents, and I don't mean from my breath.
