p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Question on Point Lobos Sunset Shoot

I will be able to shoot sunset for an evening in late October out in Point Lobos, Carmel, CA. What are your favorite locations to shoot sunset from this area?

Thank you.

Lots of info here: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=571

You may want to call and double-check how late they will be open. The site still says "1/2 hour after sunset," but last year that was no longer the case following budget cutbacks.

There are any number of places to photograph sunset within the park boundaries, but it is best to scout it yourself before the day gets too late, as you'll have only a short time before they kick you out.

Weston Beach.

The rangers are friendly.

I was there about 3 months ago. They closed at hours before sunset and aggressively ticketed any car still in the park after 5 minutes.

I have heard both sides of this story now. However, according to the "official" website, the hours are 8:00am to 7:00pm. Sunset is around 6:15pm during the end of October.

That's the same link I shared. For anyone who is counting on shooting late I strongly recommend a call to Point Lobos to verify the current times.
