This past weekend I had a session with this fine young man. Despite feeling under the weather, and nursing 2 cracked ribs (football) he really hung in there and was pleasant all the way through. I had the pleasure to photograph his older brother last year, and look forward to working with his younger sisters in coming years.

Please offer any CC you might have, and which you consider the strongest images. In cases where I posted a color and B&W version, I'm looking to see if one works better than the other. It's a large portion of the full. I hope it's not too many.

I thank you for your thoughtful critique.
- Rob

These are all very well done. All that's missing is some type of interaction with something (football) or some with him in uniform or something. They are all well done but just a bit static for the whole series.

I'm betting that his mom will love them.

Agreed. Very pleasant set but a bit same-y. Seems a little unsure in #3. I like 4 and 8 most. I think the lower plant needs to go in 20.

Yeah, I agree with Ian and exposedme. These are like pictures of him, as in his body. But he's a football player, let's get that into the shoot. What else? There's gotta be a lot more to him.

What you have is quite good. I think you just need to get more into his world.

Yeah, I hear you guys loud and clear, and agree... I asked in advance if he wanted props... I suggested a football in fact, but there was no interest in doing that. Had to shoot within the framework given. Feedback on the proofs from the family has been very positive.

This weekend I do have a shoot with a senior lacrosse player. Thankfully, he does want that part of him included in the shoot.

They are good shots, I'm not surprised that the family likes them.

The only thing that bugs me is that his pants look loose/low in the ones where the shirt is tucked in and he is standing. #5 is particularly bad, he needs to pull those pants up.

Some good images here. I think overall as a set, they lack a bit of variety in pose, emotion and composition. Also, a few "crotch shots" in there. Avoid those like the plague

#6 is great, love the color contrast between blue/orange there, but the crop seems weird.

9 vs 11, the smiley cheerful expression doesn't match his body language, so 9 seems more fitting to me.

13/14 - lets see that other arm! Always try and show all appendages

Look at the difference between 17 and 18. The head tilt in 18 forms an S-curve, which is definitely a feminine thing to do, 17 tilts the neck the other way, more masculine.

Hope this helps!
