My family and I visited Custer State Park in South Dakota recently. I didn't have a lot of time for landscape photography but I got a bit of time while my kids roamed the meadows. I'd love to go back on just a photography trip. It's a beautiful place.

Shot with a Mamiya C220 on Fuji Acros 100 black and white film and processed by the new Ilford Lab Direct US.

Hey Cody,

Pretty nice work here. The foreground is out of focus, and there is some glare from the sun it looks like in the upper right. But somehow, with the look of this B&W, it has a feel of an older type shot where that look was normal. So for me, it works.

I like the textures and the distant part on the left.
The little nits like close focus or the glare seem to blend well with the B&W film look.
I like it, but then I shoot film too

Yes, I purposely shot at a narrow depth of field (f/8, I believe) to bring the focus to the trees and give a more dreamy look to the image. I also shot into the sun, knowing I'd get a bit of glare and overexposure in the highlights in order to reinforce the dreamy look.

The meadows and lighting were so appealing. We sat under these trees, enjoying the sun, birds, and surroundings for quite some time.
