Remarkable shots Norm...they are far from pretty creatures but the interest factor is off the chart! The detail you captured is outstanding.

Thanks Eric, Bats are really remarkable animals and being able to see them right out my window and get some stop action views is really revealing and rewarding. I don't know much about their anatomy but they can sure twist and turn their wings and legs. They are so dang fast too. All that and sonar guidance.

Great stuff Norm.

They're much misunderstood and maligned creatures unfortunately. Vital part of the ecosystem here in pollination of the rainforest.

There aren't enough good words to describe these images- especially the first.
My endless thanks for shooting them and sharing them with us.
Yes, bats are remarkable animals for sure.
And yes, they are much maligned (well, except for the blood-sucking vampire bats

).
Way back in high school my buddy and I were camping in Yosemite. Driving slowly at night, I hit a small bat with my windshield. Slamming to a stop, the little guy slid off the hood onto the road. We got out and took a close look. We knew it was a bat, but being city boys, we knew very little about them. Thinking it was dead, my buddy poked it with his finger. The bat immediately took flight as we both tumbled backwards onto our collective asses.
At least the one who crapped his pants was not me
