Sorry, but unless the central focal area of the shot is in fact in focus, it just doesn't work. I get the intent, but your face needs to be sharper than this.

I hear you. But that lens with that attachment just _is_ soft.

You can see five sample shots of the lens/attachment combo on Lensbaby's own site here, if you are interested:

Under "optic", choose "Double Glass Optic", and under "accessory", choose 1.6x Telephoto.

There is a very sharp Lensbaby 80mm optic, but it's more expensive than the combo I got, fwiw.

Just google "Lensbaby" and select "images". There you will see lots of lensbaby shots, all of them in focus (OK, maybe only most of them).

That means your result is not what it could be.

I'd suggest two things. First use a different non-specialty lens.

Second, try taking the telephoto attachment off. YOu may have been too close for a proper focus.

Oh, and a final thought - don't use this photo. Delete it.

Thank you to Steve and Jim for their quick replies. Because they agreed my photo shouldn't be used, and Jim said I should take it down, I have asked that this thread be deleted.

No need to take it off the thread. What I meant was, don't present the picture as a finished photo or present it to the newspaper. You can make a better photo, so don't us this one. Keep the thread as it was. Remember, the thread is instructive for more people than just you and me. Others read and learn from the threads of each one who posts here.
