Jim, these are both great. For your sake, I wish you'd had the golden mist of the second shot to perfect the very nice order, with the path leading the eye to the payoff, of the first.

Thanks Glenn, I was glad to be there with that path there, it looked so cool leading off through the flowers like that. I do agree, I think the gold mist looks better in the second with the way it was spreading, but it was a very fluid few minutes.

I would love to see a combination of both Jim. On the first, the path leads the eye and it's a very important element. To me, the second has the best sky. Both images are strong on their own and the light is terrific.

Very cool, Jim! Another vote for n°1, which gets the nod due to its foreground, but also to more color in the tree line. Gratifying, isn't it, when Mother Nature gifts you moments like this one?

Great shots Jim! I'd go with #2 because of the lighting.

Looks like you had much better conditions then my trip earlier in August. On two of the three days we were there, you couldn't even see Mt. Ranier at sunrise and one of the days we had heavy rain. Which really hurt given the wildflowers that were in peak form in Paradise.

Great stuff Jim, another vote for number 1 here. The leading trail to the mountain is great IMO.

These shots probably look a lot better full res then at this small size. I agree with Dustin, the details are lost and it looks a bit clustered. The compositions are simple, well seen and effective, but the processing is a bit overdone for me. Maybe too much contrast and saturation was used, especially with how many TINY different coloured details there are everywhere.

Beautiful images Jim. I do like bold colors and vivid greens, so I am enjoying this one.

#1 is my pick...I just love that path down the middle. It really makes me want to be there and follow it! Beautiful colors as well.

I agree, and it's the same thing that bothered me with the last Rainier shot from Jim. All of the elements are there, great light and composition, but they feel so harsh and I hate to say it HDR feeling, almost like clarity was pushed through the roof. It might indeed be the smaller size of the images, a nice 1500px wide image might not have the same issues.

Thanks Justin, what can I say... I like a little color?? No saturation here to speak of, mainly the color would have come from the contrast adjustments.

And yeah, this is one of those with all those small flowers that getting scrunched down to web size did not do it any favors. It definitely looks much nice larger..

I appreciate the thoughts on it.

Hey Andy, thanks for your comments. Of course, no HDR was used on any of these, I can barely spell HRD I mean HDR, let alone use it... I have switched from using Nikons Capture NX2 to just using ACR for my raw conversion, so there is bound to be some change I am thinking in the look due to that.

And for sure... it looks much nicer full screen. Just a ton of detail to get scrunched up here.

The path running down the middle of the frame in #1 is a less than ideal. Image #2 is a better composition, but both images are overcooked given the true colors of the vegetation.

Great shots. I think I like 1 better due to the abundance of blue flowers.

And I hear you on the decision to stop and shoot. I have kicked myself a few times for trying to go too far rather than just stop and shoot where I am with the good light/conditions.

pretty cool, beautiful scene,

although the foreground flowers seem brighter than the sunlit clouds which feels off in the way it was processed

Jim,

I like #2. The trail really helps leads the eyes. The whole scene is really colorful and the gold mist is really cool.
