Shortly after arriving at Nickerson Beach on Long Island, New York; this black skimmer gave us a thrill by making a very close pass. This was my son Gerald’s first visit to Nickerson and his immediate reaction was wow!

The focal lengths I used tell the story of my anticipating a face full of skimmer and then realizing that it was turning and having to zoom tighter. My camera system made the same error focusing and the frame between two and three was out of focus. Possibly a faster focusing lens would not have missed that frame, it did not affect my ability to present what I saw.

Super shots Morris. Nice and sharp.Love to watch the skimmers doing hard turns especially when they chase each other.Just got back from shooting some Florida skimmers.Traveled all that distance just to shoot what I have in my own back yard
