My first post at FM here.
I began to love landscape photography after I had a trip to California coast last December and was amazed by the wonderful scenes there. So I begin to learn landscape photography thereafter. We live in the southeast part of US so it is naturally for us to choose the Great Smoky Mountains national park for practice.
We went on a trip March to the park and one afternoon we drove to the Clingmans Dome for the sunset photos. However, after we arrived there it began to overcast with thick clouds with occasional sunlight lit through. We ended up with no luck to shot the actual sunset.
However, we did have taken some photos while waiting for the sunset.
2 While we were anxiously waiting for sunset with a group of other photographers, someone has found that there was a rainbow on the other side of the sky, so we rushed towards a spot which we can barely had enough time for a shot. It only lasted a couple of minutes after we saw that.

Very good work for a first post!! Personally didn't like 3 but 1&2 are very good. I have shot there many times and came back empty handed.
Beautiful light in #1. I would have framed both #1 $ #2 with a little more foreground and a little less sky at the top. The sky at the very top of the frame doesn't add anything but more forrest in foreground would have.

Welcome to Fm Landscape!
I will second the suggestions that Ken gave you. With #2, I woud actually suggest to just clone out, or use Content Aware fill in Photoshop to remove those tree tops from the shot. In addition in #3, you have part of a sidewalk in the shot, you really want to avoid things like that. Stepping forward is often a solution.
Nice work even with the few suggestions made, the talent is pretty obvious. Just clean up the edges so to speak and these 3 shots could really shine. I like how you processed these shots, they have a really nice look to them.

Keep up the good work and good shooting to you.
Thanks for the comments. We tried to add more foreground but it will be a concrete sidewalk into the frame. Maybe a crop will do.

We will give it a try to use clone or content aware tool to see how much it can be improved. We fully agree with you that one should pay special attention to compose the frame when taking a photo.
