You are right! Everything possible to make it difficult was there: black and white birds, a harsch light, bad timing, etc...

Having never seen an albatross and always reminded of the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner when I hear the word albatross, I find these wonderful. Beautiful shots.

I'm not sure just how much more difficult you could make an exposure than this situation Phil. You got stuck on the shadow side and you had over-top direct sun.
However these look quite nice and the darker darks are better than bringing out noise IMO.

Well captured and perhaps working in a softer BG would be the only helper here. You got the courtship captured nicely, well done sir!

I enjoyed photographing them , knowing well that a lot of post processing would have to be done. But I couldn't do otherwise. I had to take the pictures. These are large birds with a wingspan up to 9 feet and yet they were so delicate in their courtship.

Wow Phil, these are birds we rarely see here AND it's a courtship display!! You should have explained to them to get in better light and such

Hey we take them where and when we can get them. I think you did an excellent job with these, I would be proud to call them my own.
