Is Mammoth Montana a different location than Mammoth Hotsprings in Yellowstone? I haven't heard of anyone referring to it by the state before, the common reference would be by Yellowstone if that is where it's from.
As for your shots, #1 has the foreground out of focus and that hurts the shot. #2 is the better shot I think but you need to level it, the terraces will be level horizontally, but they are tilted.
