I haven't posted anything here in ages - just been lurking at all the wonderful images. Here are a couple of pics from a hike last week up to Burstall Pass. It was a great day and I haven't been up there in years. It was good to be back. The 17km hike was a great challenge for my 10yr old daughter. Which pic do you prefer?

Hi Gary,

I think I prefer the composition a little bit better in #2. #1 has too much weight on the left I think. If you could pull back the highlights in the clouds as well, I think it would help. Lovely area

Hey Gary,

That's great that you got out with your daughter and it's great that you got out of the lurking corner.

#2 is my favorite composition also. And like Tim I think you need to recover more highlights. In addition I would say pull back on the midtones and then add a slight bit more contrast. But the most important thing to do first is to get those highlights back, especially in the mountains.

Number one for me. The "path" leads the viewer into the landscape and makes this view more appealing to my eye.
Thanks for sharing.

I prefer the first one, where the bush and the path lead my eye towards the background. I would suggest darkening the shot a bit.
