Charlie,
was it bamboo tea? I never had it when in Japan. Next time have to try it. The contrast in this image is so high. These gardens are so serene, you can almost feel the peace inside by just watching these pictures.
Charlie, not that a guy like me has any business making suggestions to a star like you.... but I just wonder what that shot would look like in B&W. I find it helpful with my shots of Japanese gardens, which, all too often are not open to visitors at time of perfect light.

Thanks AMaji, Phil, Phil, and Phil .
"Star?" A "Once busy traveler who is no longer married (long ago),retired and has no other life worth mentioning, so he posts a LOT on FM" is more like it .
But thanks, any-hoo- (one of those Phils).
The contrast in the original slide scan was so extreme that there was NOTHING in those bright places on the bamboo stalks. I had to manufacture "detail" to prevent imminent blindness .
I'll convert it to B&W and post it later (today, probably), to see what happens.
Yes, it was tea made from bamboo (leaves, I presume). My guess at the time was that it was a specialty of this tiny garden.
