We are continuing our vacation up here in the Poconos/Catskills, and I'm still trying to improve on my landscapes (I'm really more of a portrait/documentary guy). It seems like waterfalls are one of the nicest features of this area, so I'm focusing on those (as you saw in my earlier post). Amanda and I got up at 4:30 and drove back down to Childs park just in time for sunrise... but instead of the sun breaking through it started to rain. Thank goodness my new 24-70 is weather-sealed!

The first shot was in the middle of a downpour, so I decided to stick with the soft & ethereal look in processing. The second shot was after the rain let up a bit, although it was still very misty and sprinkling.

As always, I'm happy to benefit from your critiques.

Hey Evan,

It looks like you did pretty good here. I like both shots, but I would also clone out one thing in both shots...

In #1, that log laying on the cliff to the left of the waterfalls, with the darker tones in the shot itself, that log sticks out and distracts from the water. In #2, a small thing, but in the lower right corner, clone out at stick that is cutting across the water there.

Both are nice, but to pick a favorite I think I would go with #1.

I like 2. A bit different Take on Deer LEap. If you are still in the neighborhood, try to find The indial Ladders trail. You can get directions from the Pocono Environmental Education center or Trails.com.
