Howdy,

Found this guy on our hibiscus.

Circadae are eaten my many societies.

They are true "Sap Suckers", feeding on the sap of trees.

I think this Circada comes up out of the ground every 17 years, but I could be utterly wrong.....oh well.

That first one is a real beauty Larry. Very well captured. Neat set. Now you know their life cycle, you have ample time to prepare for the next emergence.

Cool post! Love this Larry! I have a soft spot for cicadas. One of the most interesting insects out there. If i'm not mistaken the 17 year 'brood' cicadas have a black body and reddish eyes. What you have here is probably one of the normal annual fellers we all hear every summer. Still pretty tough to find and capture. Thanks for sharing!

Got any Cicada exoskeletons

They are noisy for sure Larry, they are very cool too. I think Sergio has the scoop on these buggerz! I remember seeing the ones with the red eyes and they are wicked cool looking!

at our house I don't think we get the 17 year kind, but we do get some other types of cicadas each year I think

not so far away there was a major emergence of the 17year this spring, they sure were swarming, quite a racket in those parts! very spotty though one patch of woods was madness and the next zilch

They are out every year though there is a 7 year peak and 17 year peak and both overlap this year. Lots of them around making for great sound and your fine images Larry. The first is my pick
