p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Photo locations near Boston

I will be near Boston (Chelmsford) for 4 days and am looking for suggestions for good photo locations. I will have one entire afternoon/evening, 2 more evenings and then 1 morning to early afternoon that I can devote to photography. I will have a rental car.

I have given some thought to going as far as Portland, ME and Cape Cod. Not too interested in city stuff. Rather not spend all my time driving (rather be shooting/exploring). Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Thanks,

Bruce

There are places along the bay/ocean closer than Portland or the Cape. Marblehead or Salem, for example, about an hour from where you will be.

You can spend a good part of a day in Marblehead, not too far from Chelmsford. The best area for photography is in the Old Town area, including Front Street and the old cemetery. If you are interested give me a PM and I will write out a walking tour for you. It is very atmospheric and practically unknown.

Marblehead , would be a great place to visit, You have the old town down on the harbor, Fort Sewell at the entrance to the harbor, Crocker park with vistas all the way to Boston on clear days, Reds Pond and the old cemetery. On the other side of the harbor your on Marblehead neck and at the point the lighthouse with vistas north towards Beverly and Manchester. The neck also is home to several Yatch clubs, The Eastern being one of he oldest in the country, Corithian and then the Pleon that is the oldest junior yatch club in the nation. If your there before Labor Day the harbor should be still jammed with sailboats swinging on their moorings.

I grew up on the neck and 45 years later it's still one of my favorite towns, took the my wife back several years ago and she indicated it was one of the most relaxing and vacations she had spent in our 20 years of marriage.

This is one of the residences on the neck we called the castle.

Wherever you go there is plenty to see along the North Shore
