It probably isn't apparent- except perhaps to a few who have traveled to Nepal years ago- but I shot this because I was mocking those westerners who went to Nepal in the 60s and 70s because hashish was legal and cheap, and living was extremely cheap.
Many of them immediately began playing a "role" that was of their own invention.
But it was often extremely phony, i.e. "I get my welfare check sent to American Express in Kathmandu." Or "My dad sends money every month."
After awhile, I could pick these people out of a crowd pretty easily- by the way they dressed and acted while in public (and I met a few in low-cost hostels).
And I always had a good laugh.

Ugh ... those self-proclaimed "travellers" (no, we are NOT tourists!). I had completely forgotten about them. Still a very nice image.
