If the ball could talk it would say , you put me on a stick and smack me is the ass and then you think Im going to jump in a hole for ya , Nice one Rusty.
But it's a "SuperRange" ball ... so that means it goes father, right?
I found about a 1/2 dozen range balls in a creek bed some time back (nowhere near a course ) and just keep them in my truck for no particular reason, except to use them as an pseudo 3D WB tool on occasion. I thought the "SuperRange" might make for some irony at coming up short by such a small little amount.
I shot this one around dusk (EV4-ish) mostly as a draft/concept shot. It was kinda tough to see to compose/focus so I may re-shoot this one with a clean ball in some decent light (less noise). I was hoping to get the bottom of the cup in the frame, but couldn't quite get things the way I wanted them in the dark. Although, the cup shape kinda reminds me of a "frown" (kinda fitting) as is.
We'll see if I get back out there or not. I don't want to be a nuisance to anyone, so it's a bit hit & miss at when to go without being a bother.
Your knowledge of light is well beyond mine, but I think if you had more back light it would really give a great shadow over the hole, in addition to lowering your overall noise.
Hmmm, never thought about backlighting it. That could add a bit more drama than my uber-soft dusk light. I mostly went when there would be almost nobody around without too much consideration of the light for the "test" shot.
Although that would probably be at a time of day when the course is a bit busier, I might take a "swing" at it sometime.
Well ... this one is already at MFD with 24mm TS-E II for tilt/shift. I could try it with the 17 or 18, but they aren't tilt/shift. Hmmm, at my Oly 18/3.5.
Part of the issue is that the camera doesn't exactly fit in the cup, so I figure shift/tilt is about as low as I can go.
